Looking for a new or updated website for your Bed & Breakfast? Hotel? Holiday Cottages?

I live, and work, in Woolacombe, North Devon, voted number One in the UK & Europe on TripAdvisor, very much a holiday destination, it does give me some insight into your requirements. I was also a chef in local hotels many years ago.

Every accommodation website should have ..

A responsive website

So much traffic now is on smart phones and tablets that it cannot no longer be ignored. Nor do such visitors still have to put up with an older unresponsive website, they can simply bounce and find someone else in an instant. Browsing with a smaller screen is very different, if you can avoid having to zoom in and out, and certainly prevent any horizontal scrolling.

On-page SEO {Search Engine Optimisation}

Many very pretty websites have exceptionally poor SEO. If you have a website no one can find organically, then you will need very well planned, and probably expensive, separate marketing strategies on hand. SEO is very well catered for in all my websites. It is where I have sold myself since 2002.

Prominent contact details

A dedicated contact page, with phone, email, office hours and a contact form, one than ask the most key questions, without being off-putting. Your phone and or email on other pages.

Booking information

Easy and obvious. On site, or through a third party app. Easily found and followed.

Reviews

We can include an option for people to leave a review on your website, and we can use a few of those around the site to enhance the design, and the potential guests thoughts. We can also link through to external reviews; TripAdvisor etc., many people now look at these before making any final decision on bookings.

Calls to action

Strategically placed prompts, to contact us, book now, check availability, etc. But care needs to be taken with both placement and the message .. and it just so happens I can help you there.

Photographs

Good ones, and no shortage of them. Guests like to get an idea of what to expect. Ladies in particular have some clear ideas, and we can aim to me meet those. Not just dark thumbnails, but the agility to browse through larger photos. These can also be added over time.

Social media

Done right, and if you can maintain it, Social Media platforms can provide a healthy volume of relevant visitors. We will, at the very least, make it easy for your guests to share your website.

I can also report good progress. At least 3 bookings this week that were purely because the customer liked the website which is business we would not have previously got!!!!

We are thrilled with our new website – while it is very early days we are already receiving double the enquiries we used to have. Effective Webs always went the 'extra mile' – whether it was to achieve the right 'look' or whether it was to do with the mechanics of how things worked. I'm sure we gave John a few headaches along the way, with asking for the seemingly impossible, but impressively he always seemed to find a solution.

Moving on, all of that is relevant, but it is certainly the case that every website is different, unique in their own right. It's better now to give you a personalised outline and quote, based on what you are looking for.

There are so many bells and whistles that can be added to any accommodation website, not all will be relevant to every one. For my part, everything is possible, it just takes a little more time, these are not the ready-made templates that the majority of web designers throw together, but custom built websites

Think of it like ... you can go and buy something that will fit okay from Primark - or you can spend a little more and have your garment tailor-made

Which one will last you longer? Look smarter? Make the biggest impression?
